After retiring from the FBI in 2009, my family and I moved to West Richland where I began work as the Counterintelligence Program manager for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. We chose to live in this city because of the plentiful parks, extensive paths, great schools, and the safe, inviting, family-friendly, suburban community feel West Richland has. My military and FBI service resulted in more than a dozen relocations, including a year and a half assignment in Saudi Arabia. For us, there is no better place to live than Washington State, and there is no better community than West Richland.
My life is one of public service, and giving back to our community (where I have now lived longer than any other) is why I first volunteered to serve on the West Richland Planning Commission and later run for City Council. Presently, I also serve on the governor's Forensic Advisory Council, our state's Emergency Management Council, the Benton County Law and Justice Council and I am the current president of the Association of Washington Cities. Several years ago, my fellow councilmembers unanimously chose me to be the city's Mayor pro tem.
Now, with our current mayor leaving office, I am prepared to take on another challenge – serving as your city’s next mayor. Having retired from PNNL six years ago, I am able to devote the time being mayor requires and manage the demands of this responsibility. I believe my work experiences, continuous education, professionalism, and personal character make me the best choice to ensure West Richland remains a great community to live, work, play and raise a family in.
