Elect Fred Brink as West Richland's next mayor - the best choice for our city
Fred is a West Richland Councilmember and the Mayor pro tem. He has worked as one of your city councilmembers since winning election in 2017, having served on the city Planning Commission for several years prior.
In addition, since 2020 Fred has also served as a Fire Commissioner for Benton County Fire District #4, which provides our city and adjacent county areas with fire and emergency medical services.
After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, Fred's began six years of active duty military service in the U.S. Navy. He served for three years aboard the USS Aylwin (FF-1081) as an engineering officer and then as the ship's navigator, earning his Surface Warfare Officer qualification.
After his sea duty tour, Fred was assigned to U.S. Naval Academy as a military faculty member for three years, teaching naval tactics and navigation to midshipmen.
After six years of active duty military service, Fred changed professions and served nearly 25 years as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
His FBI career culminated with promotion to the federal Senior Executive Service as the Special Agent-in-Charge of Special Operations in the New York City field office and then as the Special Agent-in-Charge of the FBI for the State of Mississippi.
Fred also worked for 10 years as the Counterintelligence Program manager at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory after retiring from the FBI.
Following the terrorist attacks in New York City on September 11, 2001, the FBI's field office at 26 Federal Plaza was evacuated. Fred oversaw the set up of vital telecommunications systems within the New York FBI's emergency operations center and command post quickly created within a midtown Manhattan parking garage.
Within days, this facility was supporting more than 2,000 agents, as well as state and regional task force officers investigating the 9/11 terror attacks. Later, Fred also supervised evidence collection and other investigative activities at the World Trade Center "Ground Zero" site.
Assigned overseas from 2004 to 2005 as the FBI's Legal Attaché to the U. S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Fred directed the Bureau's international investigation of several terrorist attacks committed against Americans working in that nation, including the armed assault of the U.S. Consulate in Jedda, Saudi Arabia, in December 2004.
Fred’s awards and citations include the Navy Expeditionary Medal, the FBI Investigative Excellence Medal, the U.S. Attorney’s Award for Distinguished Service to Law Enforcement, the Department of Energy Distinguished Service Award and numerous additional commendations.

Once elected, I’ll continue to address the priorities that matter most to our citizens by responsibly managing your taxpayer funds, exploring new ways to address city concerns and ensuring West Richland remains a safe, prosperous, vibrant and family-focused community.
As Mayor and a former city Planning Commission member, I will work hard to find solutions to the challenges we currently face with high property taxes, affordable housing, maintaining our parks and roads, enhancing public safety and our policing capability, fireworks, and sensibly managing our city’s growth.
I'm prepared to make the tough decisions needed to ensure our city's budget reflects these priorities and I'll do what’s right for our City of West Richland.
